GKinetic actively seeking partners to scale up

GKinetic’s device before being deployed in the Limerick Docks

GKinetic invite interested parties to get in touch to discuss collaborative opportunities to build and demonstrate a 250kW device. To date, our company has demonstrated success in raising finance through private investment and funding from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).  We have recently completed significant technology milestones including optimising the device’s PTO (power take off) system working with MaREI and a 3D CFD (computational fluid dynamics) model completed by Numerics Warehouse. While GKinetic are focusing on larger scale tidal devices, our machine build partners, DesignPro Ltd. are progressing well with the development of smaller-scale river devices with plans to deploy three 25 kW devices in Europe and Canada in 2017 and 2018. Prior to launching a 25kW device, our plan is to re-deploy our 10kW prototype back in the Limerick Docks, a test facility setup working with Shannon Foynes Port Company, for advanced testing and where NUI Galway will carry out analysis on various device components.

Our ideal partners for this project are industry related and have resources both financial and physical to build a machine of this proportion. The aim for these partners is to collaborate and contribute expertise to the project and in tandem benefit their own business. Examples of partners include companies or academic organisations in the shipyard industry, engineering industry or those who have the technology to carry out environmental impact assessments. In particular, we are very interested to open discussions with those who feel that they have suitable tidal demonstration sites for this project.

We have already opened discussions with several companies in the UK and Europe and will be attending Seanergy in Le Havre, France on the 22nd and 23rd of March to meet with potential partners. If you are interested in getting involved or finding out more information, contact us by email at info@gkinetic.com or if you are attending Seanergy, find our profile on the event’s BtoB platform to set up a meeting.
