Vincent pitching in Brussels at EUSEW 2019 

GKinetic Energy’s Managing Director, Vincent Mc Cormack was 1 of 15 company representatives selected to participate in this year’s Energy Lab as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) Conference 2019.

EUSEW

The conference took place in Brussels and is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe.

The 14th annual conference took place from the 17-21st of June which included:

  • a Policy Conference;
  • EUSEW Awards;
  • a Networking Village and
  • Energy Days.

The event was buzzing with lots of networking opportunities, speakers on climate action and policy and exhibitors showcasing their European funded projects.

Below is an overview of how it all went.

Pitch Preparation

In the lead up to the pitch, Vincent and the other companies received excellent training.

Training included webinars, workshops and a training day with professional feedback at the European Commission offices the day before the Energy Lab.

Energy Lab 2

Vincent’s pitch took place on the 20th of June in Energy Lab 2 amongst other sustainable energy companies including:

  1. Convion;
  2. Mattig-Levercom Management Partners;
  3. Technical University of Berlin;
  4. Rated Power;
  5. Vortex Bladeless and
  6. OrxaGrid.

Each company pitched for 3 minutes in front of a panel of 6 energy experts and a live audience and then had 5 minutes of questioning from the panel.

GKinetic’s Pitch

Vincent pitched about the huge opportunity to invest in tidal energy.

He gave an overview of our innovative approach to scaling up our technology one step at a time by working on multiple collaborative projects.

Current projects include DesignPro Renewables‘ Horizon 2020 SME Instrument project, being consortium partners in +CityxChange and our upcoming MaRINET2 and Marine Energy Alliance projects to test and commercially plan for our first submerged tidal turbine.

Reflection

Overall, it was a fantastic experience and great to network and see all of the work being done on sustainability and Climate Action across Europe.

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to take part in this excellent and very relevant event and hope to take part again next year.
