Welcome to our new website!
After much anticipation, the Gkinetic team are happy to welcome you to our brand new website, www.gkinetic.com! A big thank-you to our website developers, Arra Web Design, who have taken our concepts and ideas and made them an extraordinary reality. The company would also like to thank the Limerick Local Enterprise Office for their support.
To give you an update on what the company has been up too, since successfully deploying and tow-testing a 10kW prototype in the Limerick Docks earlier this year, GKinetic’s technology has undergone design optimisation and improvements. Significant progress was made on the device’s Power Take Off (PTO) system with help from MaREI and a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Model has recently been completed by Numerics Warehouse. Collaboration with NUI Galway will see the development of in depth models for when the device is re-deployed. The company plans to launch back in the Limerick Docks this year for more advanced testing prior to entering the next exciting phase.
GKinetic are currently researching potential sites and collaborative partners to deploy three 25kW river devices in the last quarter of 2017 and first quarter of 2018. The company has opened discussions with several test sites in Europe, Canada and the United States including Seeneoh, the Canadian Hydrokinetic Turbine Test Centre (CHTTC) and most recently, the University of Cadiz. In July this year, GKinetic’s Managing Director, Vincent Mc Cormack visited Seeneoh in Bordeaux, France, where excellent conditions and tidal flows were witnessed. Ideally the company aims to have several devices deployed in different marine environments.
GKinetic would like to thank everyone who has been involved with our project to date and for all your hard work and endless support. We hope you enjoy the site, feel free to read and browse around. If you have any questions or if you are interested in collaboration with the company, please contact GKinetic on info@gkinetic.com.
